Bring 5 cups chicken broth to a boil. Add ham strips, bamboo shoots, bean curd, mushrooms(destemmed). Reduce heat and simmer 5-6- minutes. Stir in soy sauce, salt, vinegar, white pepper. Add cornstarch which has been mixed with water and stir until thickened. Add green pepper and the eggs. Stir for 30 seconds and add the sesame oil and if desired, the tabasco.
