Ingredients
- 1 medium minced onion
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 1/2 cups tomato puree
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
Saute onion in salad oil just until limp and yellow. Add tomato puree and garlic, Gradually stir in chile powder, Add cumin seed, Oregano and salt. Cover and simmer at least 30 minutes, stirring frequently, Strain through a medium-fine wire strainer. Makes about 3 cups.
