Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup water
- 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Directions
Sift sugar and flour into a large mixing bowl. Bring crisco,butter,water and cocoa to a rapid boil and pour into sugar and flour mixture. Mix at medium speed. Still mixing, add the buttermilk,soda, eggs, vanilla,salt. Preheat oven to 425. Bake in 10 x 15 x 2 " pan for 20 minutes. Frosting: 5 minute before cake comes out: mix 1 stick butter, 4 heaping tbsp cocoa. 6 tablespon milk. Bring to a rapid boil and pour over 1 pound box powdered sugar. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup chopped nuts. I haven't a clue when the icing gets put on the cake.
