Saute the onion in butter or oil until golden brown. Wash and trim the beans. Cut into 2 inch lengths. Add to onions and saute, stirring constantly, until the beans have turned bright green. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes, or until beans are tender. Makes 4-6 servings.
I made this with frozen wax beans. If they are thawed, it works just fine.
