Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 1 12 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)
Directions
Mix flour, soda, salt, in a smallish bowl; set aside. Mix 2 sugars briefly at low speed in mixer, add butter in small gobbets; mix first at low, then at high speed. Beat until pale, light, and very fluffy. Add vanilla at lowest speed, then beat at high for a few seconds. Add eggs at lowest speed, then beat at high for a few seconds. They should look creamed, not curdled. Add flour, soda and salt - 1/2 cup at a time. Mix at low speed 2 inutes, then high speed a few seconds. Scrape down bowl's sides with spatula - add chips. Mix low speed 10 seconds. If need, scrape bowl's sides again - mix few more seconds. Put Tablespoonfuls of mix on ungreased sheet. Bake until pale golden brown (9minutes - Electric) (10 - 11 minutes - Gas) 375 degrees. Remove and cool on a rack! HA! This recipe contributed to my file by Johnny.
