like fried polenta
Ingredients
2 cups masa
2 1/2 cups water added slowly
peanut oil for frying
chorizo, salsa, etc.
Directions
Mix masa and water, slowly adding water so you don't make it too thin. Mix about 3-4 minutes to make nice round firm balls.
Flatten the balls with wax paper between two skillets, to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
Put plenty of oil in a pan. Fry the cakes and use a skimmer to flip them when they are golden brown on one side.
Fry other side to golden brown, too.
Eat with chorizo, salsa, avocado, etc.
These are similar to arepas, but arepas are eaten more like English muffins.
